Abstract
Dr. Deb Canter discussed her journey into dietetics, beginning with her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin, followed by both her Master of Science and PhD from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She became a registered dietitian through the pathway of earning an MS degree followed by six months of work experience. She emphasized the importance of foodservice management, citing a pivotal field trip that influenced her career. Canter highlighted her 38-year tenure at Kansas State University, her roles as director of the didactic program in dietetics and graduate program director, and her contributions to distance education. She also reflected on the challenges and evolutions in the dietetics profession, stressing the need for management and leadership skills.
