Abstract
Dr. Leanne Schaefer discussed her career path in dietetics, starting from her high school days to her recent retirement. She initially aimed to be a home ec teacher but was guided to become a dietitian. Her first job was at a local hospital, where she worked as a dietary supervisor. She later became a consultant dietitian, regional dietitian, and nursing home administrator. Schaefer emphasized the importance of staying current, mentorship, and the challenges of balancing work and family. She highlighted her research on cooking skills, productivity, and garnishing, and her pride in starting a graduate program at the University of Akron.
