Description

The term “treehugger” has been used for a long time to describe those who care about and advocate for the sacredness of the natural world. It has recently become an identity that has been embraced and accepted by this community. I personally love to be described as a treehugger because it helps people understand how much I care about the environment and all of God’s creations. When this picture was taken, my sister and I were hiking in South Fork Canyon in one of the most beautiful and secluded areas I have found in Utah. We hiked past a ranch on the way up this side canyon and I thought of how the private property below has likely helped protect the pristine groves above on the back slopes of Cascade Mountain. We all have the responsibility to keep beautiful places like this safe and we can do so by using them wisely. This picture, which began as a joke, is now something I see as an expression of the beauty we have the opportunity to preserve.
