Abstract
Music connects us to times, to places, and to each other. Whether it’s the song that reminds you of your first kiss, the song your family belted out on road trips, that song that feels like summer, or a Primary song that still brings you peace, music means more than its notes.
This exhibit explores pop music with connections to Provo, whether the bands lived here, played here, or attended BYU. It begins 100 years ago, follows the interwoven networks of family acts like the Osmonds and the King Sisters, and leads to the explosion of contemporary acts like Imagine Dragons and Neon Trees, radiating out from Provo.
As you explore the exhibit, give thought to the connections music makes in your life and what connections you might have to Provo’s pop music.
