Abstract
Among many points which remain controversial in the study of Anaxagoras, one of the most persistent and perhaps most fundamental is the question whether he is a clear-headed thinker with coherent theory and a proper grasp of philosophical issues, or whether he is a muddled obscurantist whose occasionally bold insights are attributable more to a lively imagination than to rigorous thought.
