Abstract
The site of investigation for this work was Salem Pond, Salem (formerly known a.s Pond Town), Utah. It was settled in 1851 by David Crockett and David Fairbanks. Colonization began in 1856 when a fort of adobe and lumber houses was built near the pond, and later, several industries located there, benefited by the water wheels constructed by the pioneers (Huf4 l947).
