Abstract
In studying Poe and what he can do for the modern reader, one comes to see literature in a new light. His influence reaches far beyond the continental United States and the time period he contributed to. One such connection is how his ideas have permeated contemporary literature. This article looks at the connection between J.K. Rowling and Edgar Allan Poe, focusing on his interpretation of metempsychosis and how it comes into play in the Harry Potter series.
