Abstract
Attachment styles and spirituality can greatly affect mental health, therefore, attachments to God can also be an indicator of mental health. This literature review examines all relevant literature regarding attachment styles to God and mental health, using a total of 10 sources. Secure and insecure relationships with God were examined to find correlations with psychological well-being. Secure attachments to God are correlated with higher psychological well-being. Researchers found that anxious and avoidant attachments to God are correlated with psychological issues like depression and anxiety. Further research should be conducted to address limitations of self-report, cross-sectional studies, and underrepresented groups. With further research, more awareness can be spread about the importance of ministering in religious communities.
