Biography
Maria Theresia von Paradis was an Austrian music performer and a composer; she lost her sight at an early age and it is presumed that Mozart may have written his Piano Concerto No.18 in B flat major in her honor.
She lost her eyesight presumably between the ages of 2 and 5, and was treated from 1776 until mid 1777 by Franz Anton Mesmer, however the treatment didn't last as she was removed from his care - possibly from fear of losing her disability pension.
