Abstract
One question sure to stir up a spirited discussion in any gathering of galdosistas in whether Bentio Perez Galdos's Dona Perfecta is finally able to transcend the tendentiousness of tis own ideological leanings. A long tradition of criticism of the novel faults its didactisism and questions whether its characters are endowed with any real depth.
