Description

The following design report details the development of training resources for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to help in-field mentors learn and improve specific job tasks. In 2025, the client hired over 400 new employees as it expanded to support regions around the globe. This necessitated enhanced training resources which mentors could access on demand during their weekly professional development time. In response, I developed and delivered asynchronous training materials through an internal SharePoint page. These materials include a self-assessment, instructional videos, practice activities in Microsoft PowerPoint modules, and job aids.

This report begins with a description of the design need, analyses, and project constraints. It continues with a description of the final product, development journey, and evaluation efforts. This report concludes with a reflection on the key design knowledge from developing this product and a personal reflection.

This design report may be particularly informative to those designing a learning solution for a global workforce with limited professional development time—a learning solution that leverages applicable examples and engaging practice activities.Instructional designers working for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or another top-down organization may also find this report insightful.
