In the Department of French and Italian, it is our mission to help students gain the type of education described by Brigham Young. Our courses are designed to help students learn to "think, [speak and write] clearly." Our programs (in and out of the classroom) prepare students to "act well in the world's work." We believe that "acting well in the world's work" implies not only becoming technically proficient at an employable skill, but also acting in a morally responsible manner in any profession. Finally, the principles of language, literature, and culture studied in our major and minor courses give students an increased ability to "appreciate life."
