In the journal of Family Perspectives, we seek to publish principles of truth on contemporary family issues that enrich and strengthen family life.
The purpose of Family Perspectives is to (a) explore diverse topics related to the family (b) create opportunities for students and others to be an influence for good by writing, editing, and publishing evidence-based pieces and (c) to build bridges between strengths, faculty, alumni, and the community.
An ecclesiastical leader with responsibilities to guide the course of the university, President Dallin H. Oaks, visited BYU and issued a directive to the School of Family Life to publish family research findings with the intent to better reach the general public. Faculty and students have responded to this charge to strengthen families and provide them with the tools to navigate relevant issues and improve their relationships.
As an editorial board, we were inspired by this initiative. We work alongside faculty to promote research-based family values and provide credible information to all who may be interested. We seek to collaborate with other like-minded individuals and organizations to develop a wide reach in order to uplift and strengthen individuals and families well beyond the bounds of our campus community.
