Abstract

The Spanier and Lewis review relies heavily upon their earlier work (Lewis and Spanier, 1979). No revision or modification of the basic marital quality theory is attempted in the review. This is unfortunate, because some theoretical confusion and ambiguity contained in the 1979 publication is apparently unknowingly repeated in the 1980 review.
