Abstract
Unfamiliar with her new home, Marin Pluckett steps outside to explore the surrounding terrain. As she enters the woods, deep in her own thoughts, she climbs a nearby tree. Suddenly, her attention shifts to the teenagers next door. There are nine of them, and strangely, as quickly as they appear, they disappear. She wanders if her mind is simply playing tricks on her, but moments later she discovers they are back, just long enough to vanish once again. She forms an unlikely friendship with a boy named Charley, who is the only other person who knows of the teenagers’ existence. Together, they search to determine who they are. While many of their expectations go unmet throughout the journey, they both find a part of themselves that helps make them whole.
