AWE (A Woman’s Experience)
Volume 9 (2022)
Letter from the Editors
Dear Reader, Welcome to the 2022 edition of AWE: A Woman’s Experience. Our team of editors and our graphic designer, the authors and artists included in this issue, and our incredible advisor Dr. Marlene Esplin have dedicated their time, talents, and efforts to bring forth a collection of masterpieces showcasing the personal experiences of women on BYU’s campus. The authenticity portrayed in each written and artistic piece champions the diversity and unity of women across campus and the personal challenges and triumphs they face. While we could not publish every submission this season, we are humbled by the opportunity to read and regard every piece that was sent to us. As a team, we fundamentally believe that each story’s worth has divine, intrinsic value, as do the authors and artists who share them with us. We revere each contributor and their bravery in sharing their experiences, and are honored to be entrusted with publishing their incredible work. As always, the goal of AWE: A Woman’s Experience is to empower women’s voices on campus through sharing their stories. Our hope is that this issue of the journal will inspire you to consider other women’s perspectives and experiences. In doing so, we hope you also consider your own narrative and the value it brings to the world– for it is our belief that every individual and their experiences bring great wisdom and value. We encourage you to share your story with others and find camaraderie and empowerment through initiating vulnerable, valuable conversations–whether on paper or in person. We are grateful to BYU’s Global Women’s Studies Department, the AWE team, and all other contributors who have enabled us to create this platform for women to own their narratives, and we are grateful to you for your efforts to do likewise. Gratefully, Hannah Snarr, Madsyn Selph, and Eliza Peterson Editors-in-ChiefFull Issue
