Abstract
The reissuing of Mary Ann Stucki [Stücki] Hafen's classic account by a Swiss-American pioneer with an introduction by Donna Toland Smart is most welcome. This is the seventh reprinting of the book, which was first published in 1938 and was initially meant only as a record for the author's family, but it has been widely praised as one of the most important accounts of the Mormon migration and early settlement.
