Annual Meeting, SAHS, Treasury report, New Orleans
Abstract
The Ninth Annual Meeting of the reactivated Swiss American Historical Society was held on Saturday, December 30 , 1972, in New Orleans. The business meeting took place in the Rare Books Room of Tulane Library. Following the transaction of the business Mrs. Connie Griffith, Director of Special Collections, Tulane Library, showed the members present a few of her treasures from the collection of Swiss Consul Emil Hoehn. They include a multi-volume chronicle of world history written in the middle of the 16th century by Heinrich BuLlinger, Zwingli's famous successor at the Grossmilnster in Zurich, as well as another handwritten manuscript on a phase of the religious wars of the mid-17th century. A Stumpf'sche Chronic and other illustrated printed tomes from the Hoehn collection evoked further reactions of surprise and awe. Mrs. Griffith would like for an expert in Swiss history to help her evaluate and catalogue these materials. From the samples which we saw such an expert may find himself to become engaged in a veritable treasure hunt. We are very grateful to Mrs. Griffith for having provided us with this special treat and to Mr. John Geiser III for having arranged the meeting at Tulane University.
