Abstract
On the weekend of August 29 and 30 New Glarus, Wisconsin, celebrated its 125th anniversary. The festivities, carefully prepared over a long period of time by a hard working and dedicated executive committee under the chairmanship of Paul Grossenbacher, included such events as a parade, complete with highschool bands, majorettes, open cars for dignitaries, folkloristic groups, and floats and a barbecued chicken picnic on Saturday afternoon, a major folkloristic program with Mannerchor , yodeling by individuals and groups, folk dancing, Fahnenschwingen and Alphornblasen in the highschool gyrrmasium on Saturday evening and came to a climax at the dedication of the Hall of History in the center of the Village Museum in the presence of the "governors" of Wisconsin and "Old" Glarus, representatives of the Swiss Embassy in Washington and the Swiss Consulate General in Chicago as well as a large congregation of people from close by and far away places on Sunday afternoon.
