Abstract

In January of this year our Advisory Council member, Professo-r Dr. Max Silberschmidt celebrated his seventieth birthday. To honor and celebrate him on that occasion former students and friends of his published a volume entitled Beidseits des Atlantiks, containing a selection of his essays and articles. The Swiss American Historical Society joins the many individuals and institutions who congratulated Professor Silberschmidt. We add our own expression of thanks to him for his contributions in the field of U.S. -Swiss relations and send our best wishes for many years of serene and healthy retirement, so well deserved after more than a quarter century of a fulfilled career as a professor of history at the University of Zurich.
