Abstract
One of the main purposes of the Swiss American Historical Society and of its Newsletter is to draw the attention of Swiss and friends of Switzerland, who are interested in Swiss American history and cultural relations, to recent publications in this field. We again have a good occasion to do this. Professor Leo Schelbert, our Secretary, has kindly arranged for us reprints of his recent article on the emigration of the Swiss Mennonites to America (see under II.). Our member Fritz Blum has given us copies of a special issue on Switzerland of the New York paper for which he works (III.). Our member, Professor Rolf Kieser, has kindly made for us an English version of his account on a still controversial historical subject involving an unhappy Swiss emigrant to the U.S. (IV.). Our President Augustin Maissen announces to our membem a Course in Raeto-Romance to be held in the congenial atmosphere of the Summer Residence of the Disentis Abbey College (V.) . My own contribution to this Newsletter is a book review on a recent art publication by a close friend who taught in New York and was art adviser to the Geigy Corporation; her premature death makes her message to us all the more moving (VI ).
