Abstract

In her doctoral dissertation B. Ziegler describes in great detail an interesting chapter of Swiss emigration history, the mid-nineteenth century movement of Swiss to Brazil. Although Swiss emigrants to countries overseas had mainly chosen as their destinations domains of the United States, Brazil emerged for a time as a close second.
