Abstract
This collection of papers given at a London symposium in March 1984 is in several respects a supplementary companion to H. M. Waidson's Anthology of Modern Swiss Literature (1984). They have the same cover picture - showing the distribution of the four national languages in Switzerland - and together they convey a rather comprehensive idea of what current Swiss literature is. Whereas Waidson's display of the literary production of the last decades is to some extent a neutral view from a distance, this collection of essays adds some more Swiss points of view, mentions further authors, and is by nature more topical and partly also more subjective as it criticizes, analyzes and reflects on trends.
