Abstract

Banziger's book College-Erinnerungen is a collection of short pieces written between 1967 and 1979 and published first in the periodical Schweizer Monatshefte. Here he describes and comments on a wide variety of phenomena he encountered in his daily life at Bryn Mawr. There are notes about nature and academic procedures, about political events and difficulties with language, about schools and churches. The thread connecting all these details of the old and the new country is a keen interest in human behavior and its inherent attitudes as well as the attempt to show that reality will always surpass our images and concepts.
