Abstract

In the November 1982 issue of the SAHS Newsletter {XVIII, 3, 26-29) Professor Leo Schelbert wrote a detailed review of my book Hawai'i und die deutschsprachigen Völker (Bern: Peter Lang 1982). While I found myself in agreement with him on most issues, there are two points in his critique which merit a closer look, however.
