Abstract
Burkart, Erika (1922-), Swiss poet and novelist, was born in Aarau. Her father was a well-known adventurer, hunter, and author. Although Erika Burkart was educated as a schoolteacher, she decided to write rather than teach and lives in the former residence of the abbots of Muri in Althäusern. She regards her self-sought isolation as an option for nature.
