Abstract

Bichsel, Peter (1935-), Swiss writer and journalist, grew up in Olten, Solothurn canton, attended the teachers college in Solothurn, and taught at the elementary school in Bellach, where he eventually settled. He first came to the attention of the reading public in 1965, when he was awarded the prize of the prestigious German writers' association, "Gruppe 47."
