Properties of Qualitative Adjective Relationships

Abstract
Adjectives are traditionally considered to be either qua relational. Qualitative refers to some inherent quality of the modified, whereas relational deals with the head noun' relationship to some other entity. For example, Townsen белый дом 'white house' and плохой писатель 'bad writer' as qualitative adjectives and деревянный дом 'wooden house' and французский писатель 'French writer' as relational adjectives Although the difference between the two types is semantic, Townsen adds that, for Russian, it involves several formal implications Adjectives described within his system as qualitative may have short forms and comparatives; they can build adverbs; and they may build abstract nouns denoting some quality, whereas relational adjective have no short forms or comparatives, resist forming adverbs, and do not build abstract nou
