Abstract
Lanai is the sixth largest island and is one of the driest so only a few thousand Hawaiians ever called it home. By the time the LDS Church attempted to establish a gathering place in Palawai Basin there were only 600 Hawaiians on the island. Andrew Jenson listed only 14 members out of 105 inhabitants on Lanai in 1895.
