From the beginning the documentary clarified the difference between misinformation and disinformation. Misinformation is unknowingly false information which is shared innocently. Disinformation is information that is known to be false and intentionally shared under malicious pretenses. Disinformation and fake news are not just about politics, even though we may often think of that first. We are all subject to acts of subtle disinformation every single day.
