Abstract
Henriette Renié was a world-famous harpist from France who worked to expand the virtuoso repertoire for harp and helped establish the status of the harp as a solo concert instrument. The Henriette Renié and Françoise des Varennes Papers contain personal items originally belonging to Renié, and arranged and used by her goddaughter, des Varennes, for her biography, as well as handwritten and typed documents created by des Varennes in preparing the biography. The items found within the archive range mostly from Renié’s lifetime (1875-1956), although there are many materials collected by des Varennes about Renié that pertaining to her biography extending up to 1994.
