Abstract
We live in a separated world. Despite extensive technological advances in global connectivity, our understanding and knowledge of other cultures is quite limited. We gain small amounts of information through history lessons and brief news reports. Sometimes we are fortunate enough to hear descriptions from someone who has experienced a culture first hand, but for the most part we remain removed from other societies. For my research, I wanted to take a step forward in expanding my boundaries as well as provide a similar opportunity to others through my work. I choose to spend a month in Hong Kong photographically documenting the new world that I encountered. Through both moving film and still photography of the urban landscape, I attempted to capture the energy and atmosphere of the society.
