Abstract
The fifteenth century heralded a revolution in Northern painting, known as the Northern Renaissance. This movement was headed by the Flemish Primitifs, a group of artists who created works of unprecedented naturalism. A key player in this movement was Hans Memling. Although born in Germany, he adopted the Flemish style, with its intense detail and rich, glowing colors.
