Abstract

“Every man is a quotation from all his ancestors,” said Ralph Waldo Emerson. This ancestral quotation created a dialogue that later became an exhibition. My lifelong dream became a reality through the realization of a one-woman show in Gallery 303 of the Harris Fine Arts Center at Brigham Young University. The show was exhibited March 18-27, 2003, and discussed intergenerational change, the traditions and habits we carry from our parents, and the influence we have on our children. Viewers were prompted to muse upon the path that they had traveled because of the road their ancestors have taken, to contemplate the power of genetics, and to ponder the lasting effects of personal decisions.
