Abstract
This report provides an overview of the "Manga Records Enhancement Project" implemented at the University of Washington Libraries. Following the Library of Congress (LC)'s approval on headings for manga in both the Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) and the Library of Congress Genre/Form Terms for Library and Archival Materials (LCGFT), “Manga (Comic books)” was established in LCSH and “Manga” in LCGFT. The manga records enhancement project was designed to enhance OCLC WorldCat records held by the University of Washington Libraries. The method was through a combined approach of batch processing utilizing MARCEdit and OCLC API, and individual records enhancements. The report outlines the challenges and issues encountered as well as considerations for future initiatives.
