Description
For a long time I hated him, although I did not know Rene that well. On my previous visits to Mexico City, I only saw and talked to him briefly. He was a bohemian, a bizarre fellow, and certainly not one of my favorite cousins. He was always involved in some leftist political movement. He began by joining a Catholic youth organization; then he joined the Socialist party, and most recently he had been elected to the board of a newly formed Communist party. He dropped out of school, earned his living playing protest songs at the regular hangouts for leftist liberals, and spent his summers in Spain and France attending Communist conventions.
