Abstract

Among early Christian writings about the Old Testament patriarch Joseph,it is works from the early Syriac tradition which explore this figure most extensively. Joseph appears prominently among biblical characters used in Aphrahat’s demonstrations, and of course Ephrem retells the narrative, with expansions, in his Genesis commentary.
