Situación alimentaria y nutricional de las comunidades villa Santa Chacoma, Hancara, Hichuraya Grande y Pan de Azucar de la provincia Ingavi del departamento de La Paz, Bolivia 1996

Abstract

A diagnosis of the Food and Nutrition situation was made of the populations of the communities of Villa Santa Chacoma, Hancara, Hichuraya Grande and Pan de Azúcar, pertaining to the Ingavi province of the La Paz department. The principle objective was to: identify the Nutritional Food Situation of these communities, the secondary objectives were to: Identify the nutritional state of the inhabitants of the communities, identify the physical availability of food, identify the habits of breastfeeding and supplementary feeding, identify the level of ingestion, establish the consumption of food and identify the level of education of householders; to these ends a cross-sectional descriptive study was designed, with a scope that is limited to the entire population of these communities. The data found in the prevalence of malnutrition in children under 18, according to the indicators of Weight/Age, Weight/Height and Height/Age which are significantly higher. The Global Nutritional State (P/E) presented a 21%, the actual nutritional state (P/T) has a prevalence of 19%; according to the indicator of Height/Age reflecting the nutritional history of child malnutrition showed a prevalence of 32%. These types of malnutrition are expressed more intensely in the male sex and groups of 6 to 17 years. The highest prevalence corresponds to the chronic malnutrition which indicates the under nourishment that children from the earliest years of life and which manifests itself as time goes on.

Abstract (Spanish)

En este sentido es que se realizó un diagnóstico de la Situación alimentaria y Nutricional de lapoblación de las comunidades de Villa Santa Chacoma, Hancara, Hichuraya Grande y Pan deAzúcar, pertenecientes a la provincia Ingavi del Departamento de La Paz. El objetivo principalfue: Identificar la Situación Alimentaria Nutricional de estas comunidades, los objetivossecundarios fueron: Identificar el estado nutricional de los habitantes de las comunidades,identificar la disponibilidad física de alimentos, identificar los hábitos de lactancia materna yalimentación complementaria, identificar el nivel de ingresos, establecer el consumo dealimentos e identificar el nivel de instrucción de los jefes de familia; para estos fines se diseñoun estudio transversal de carácter descriptivo, cuyo ámbito de acción está circunscrito a toda lapoblación de estas comunidades. Los datos encontrados de prevalencia de desnutrición enmenores de 18 años según los indicadores Peso/Edad, Peso/Talla y Talla/edad sonsignificativamente altos. El Estado Nutricional global (P/E) presentó un 21%, el estadonutricional actual (P/T) una prevalencia de 19%; según el indicador Talla/Edad que refleja lahistoria nutricional del niño presentó una prevalencia de desnutrición de 32%. Estos tipos dedesnutrición se manifestaron con mayor intensidad en el sexo masculino y en los grupos de 6 a17 años. Como se ve la prevalencia mayor corresponde a la desnutrición crónica que indica lasub alimentación que tienen los niños desde los primeros años de vida y se manifiesta a medidaque transcurre el tiempo.
