Abstract
The race to space is in full swing in this book Epic Fails: Race to Space Countdown to Liftoff. It starts with the Chinese discovery of gunpowder that leads to the first rockets. Later on, Wernher von Braun is introduced. After escaping Germany where he was forced to work as a scientist for the Axis powers during WWII, von Braun joins other United States scientists in their quest to outdo the scientific discoveries of the USSR. What starts with experiments to create the first V-2 rocket leads to more studies and attempts to explore the sky and what lies beyond it. After multiple failed attempts and successes, the US is able to progress to the point where they can land on the moon. In an effort to end the rivalry between the two countries, the USSR and the US complete a mission to connect two space crafts together in what becomes the first joint space mission.
