Abstract
When the chicken crosses the road, he might just get to the other side—the otherworldly side, that is, if he happens to be hit by a truck. Finding that he is now a ghost, Chicken consults with the other animals who have met his same fate. They want him to be scary and to haunt unsuspecting readers. Chicken, on the other hand, prefers to be a friendly ghost. That is, until his anger gets the best of him, and chicken’s scary side begins to show itself.
