Abstract
Nisha is a young girl living in India in the 1940s, a time full of chaos, turmoil, and upheaval for her country. She writes down her experiences in a diary. India is being divided so that a portion will become Pakistan, where people who are Muslim will live. Since many people who are Muslim live on the India side and others who are Hindu live on the Pakistan side, thousands of families must leave their homes to migrate to another region. Nisha’s family are among the refugees who have to travel long distances in brutal weather without any food or supplies in order to find safety in a new land.
