Abstract
All Sadie’s clothes are hand-me-downs from her brothers, but not her silver shoes. They have only belonged to her, until one day when she loses a shoe in the river. Despite only having one shoe, Sadie decides to wear it anyway because she loves it so much. Other girls make fun of her for wearing mismatched shoes, but Sadie doesn't care. One day, a new girl named Ellie comes to class. When Sadie invites Ellie over, Sadie gets a surprise that allows the girls to become friends.
