Abstract
When Jasmine and her older sister, Sophie, receive daruma wishing dolls from their Grandma in Japan, Jasmine decides to wish for a pet flamingo. She does everything she can to show her parents that she’s responsible enough to care for a pet of her own. She is heartbroken when she finally accepts that there is no way for her to keep a wild flamingo as a house pet. But her wish ends up coming true when she adopts a flamingo of her own from the local zoo.
