Abstract
Anna Sewell's famous story Black Beauty was published in 1877. This retelling by Ruth Brown is an adaptation that mimics Sewell's classic story in an abridged version. This story is unique because it is told from a horse's point of view. Black Beauty's life was not always a happy one. The horse was passed from owner to owner and they were not always kind. This book brings awareness to the proper treatment of animals.
