Abstract
From poverty to health crises, to moving to a new place, Lulu Delacre’s Us in Progress is a collection of short stories that provides a range of life experiences from young latinos/latinas in the United States. Based on true stories that Delacre gathered from news articles and personal experiences, the authenticity of the characters is both relatable and relevant. The stories each begin with a uniquely Spanish saying and a beautiful illustration of the story’s main character. While the stories are punctuated with some Spanish vocabulary, Delacre provides a set of translations in the back, thus making the impactful stories accessible to all readers.
