Abstract
Auggie Pullman sees himself as just an ordinary kid, but because of a rare genetic disease and lots of surgeries, he doesn’t look like one. This year he is starting fifth grade at Beecher Prep and it will be the first time he has gone to a “real” school. Thankfully, Auggie meets Summer and Jack Will, two kids who are willing to be his friend, even though everyone else avoids him because of his facial difference. One kid, Julian, even bullies him and those who hang around him. School is hard as a fifth grader, but with good friends and a supportive family, Auggie makes it through the year, and ends up lifting the hearts of those around him along the way.
