Abstract
The thunder booms outside and no one wants to be alone. A little boy is joined under the covers by his animals friends, one by one, until the bed can't hold them all! The bed breaks and everyone scatters, leaving the little boy and his teddy bear to sleep alone at last. The story has a rhyming narrative that counts along as the number of animals in the boy's bed increases with each turn of the page. The storm outside the boy's room is paired with large, colorful type for its onomatopoetic booms and crashes. The illustrations have soft edges and mild colors. All of these make this a great bedtime story, especially for stormy nights.
