Abstract
The seasons are explained in a simplified way (without mentioning details about the tilt of earth’s axis) for children to understand. A table of contents, glossary, and index are provided in Signs of Summer with interesting facts scattered throughout the book. Readers will learn about the characteristics of summer and activities kids like to do in summer. Readers may even be left wondering what they like to do best in summer. The book also includes a quiz to test the reader’s knowledge about summer. Signs of Summer is one of four books in the Signs of the Seasons series. Colorful illustrations as well as realistic photographs are included in this book. There are only a few simple sentences on each page, and the author has placed the trickier words in bold and has included each word in the glossary at the end of the book. This book would be great for teaching nonfiction text features to younger children. This book is easy to navigate and is perfect for young readers!
