Abstract

Rapunzel still doesn't know why her hair has come back and continues to keep the secret of what happened to protect Cassandra. Wanting to get answers about what the hair growth means, she and Cassandra go visit a wizard who may be able to learn more about her hair. The wizard turns out to be a young Alchemist named Varian who is happy to do experiments to learn about her hair, but his other experiments put the group in danger and Rapunzel has to use her hair to save the day. A big part of this episode is how upset Eugene is about Rapunzel not telling him her secret. It focuses on him trying to get other people to tell him secrets, and it is Eugene who spills the secrets of the danger of Varian's machine. In the end, Rapunzel telling Eugene what happens is a nice element and leaves room for future episodes to tell viewers what he will do with that information. The episode moves at a much faster pace than the Before Ever After movie and introduces another delightful character with Varian. This first episode still leaves a lot of room for the rest of the series and viewers will be curious to know what are the continually growing mysterious rocks. Tangled fans will enjoy the first episode of new adventures with Rapunzel and Eugene.
