Abstract
Swoop, flap, and fly through the world of woodpeckers in April Pulley Sayre’s Woodpecker Wham! Sayre’s carefully chosen rhymes take readers into the woods to observe woodpeckers up close. The detailed illustrations by Steve Jenkins are done in a collage style using layers of paper. There are scenes of woodpeckers building homes, hiding from predators, cleaning themselves, and raising fledglings. There are informational pages at the end of the book that go into detail about what’s happening on each page of the book. It covers feeding, home building, raising babies, etc.
